Gulab Bagh
The Gulab Bagh or the Sajjan Niwas garden sprawls over an area of 100 acres and is truly a feast to the senses. With its huge area and sheer beauty, the Gulab Bagh can easily be rated as the best garden in India. Gulab Bagh can be literally translated as "the Rose Garden" and was built by Sajjan Singh somewhere in the late nineteenth century.
The beautiful garden also used to boast of a wonderful museum with an excellent collection of antiques and curios. It was known as the Victoria Hall Museum but it has now been shifted to the Karan Vilas Mahal that is situated in the City Palace complex. However, the garden has a public library attached to it, which is known as the Saraswati Bhawan Library. Originally known as the Victoria Hall, this striking building was built to commemorate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee. One can come across many rare books and manuscripts at the library that offer an interesting read. Indology, archeology and history - you can find books on everything at the Saraswati Bhawan Library.
The Gulab Bagh is a must visit site during your Udaipur tour.
