Nahargarh Fort
Built in 1734 by Sawai Jai Singh II, the Nahargarh Fort is the first of the three forts built by the rulers of Jaipur. This impressive fort lies 6 km away from the Jaipur City Palace and is also known as the "Tiger Fort". The Nahargarh Fort still abounds with the glorious tales of its past and the intrigues it had been a witness to thus being rated as one of the foremost historical attractions of Jaipur.
With its elevated location, the Nahargarh Fort offers some very fantastic views of the Jaipur city at its varied and colorful best. It must be mentioned that a host of additions were made to this grand military structure by Sawai Jai Singh's successors in the years that followed its construction. Sadly, some of the older parts of the fort are in a bad shape but the new additions still have their beauty and grandeur intact.
As you stand on the forts ramparts and look at your surroundings, you surely feel like a king with the world at your feet. The romantic aura and old worldly charm of the Nahargarh Fort just overwhelms the senses. Suddenly you feel that you have been caught in a time warp and can hear the fort reverberating with its glorious past. Surely, this is an experience you would not like to miss. Besides, you should not forget to enjoy the grand view of the Man Sagar Lake offered by the Nahargarh Fort.
